Responding to Arguments Against Control

Below is a series of criticisms of AI control. For each one, write the best response using what you learned in Module 1.

Note that some of these arguments are partially right; a response that identifies what the argument gets right and what it still misses is often stronger than a rebuttal as it shows you're not being biased.

The critic argues:

By preventing smaller AI-induced catastrophes, there is less public alarm, which may lower AIS investment and therefore enable more major catastrophes.
